No In-N-Out? No Problem!

That Corporate Burger Place Got You Down?

Sometime within the last 24 hours, Tulsans across the metro got their hopes raised to unparalleled heights and then dashed to a million little burger pieces. We thought that in the near future we would be able to walk into a shiny, new chain burger restaurant and order a 4×4 Animal style with a side of fries (obviously animal style).

However, earlier today a spokesperson for the said burger chain told local news outlets that, “The only plans the fast-food chain has at this time is expanding in states they currently are in,” causing a wave of sadness to cascade through the city.

Yes, having an In-N-Out Burger in Tulsa would be nice, but should we really let what we don’t have distract us from the amazing burger joints that already exist in this great city? At McGraw, we say, “NO!” Here are a just a few of our favorite local favorites.

The Classic – Arnolds Old Fashioned Hamburgers

West Tulsa – 1722 W 51st St, Tulsa

We start with a Tulsa mainstay from the west side of town. Arnold’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers has that classic burger joint feel with fantastic burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Seriously, with over 900 google reviews and 4.6 stars, this is one place you need to try if you haven’t already.

The Best Deal – McNellie’s (Wednesday Nights)

Downtown – 409 E 1st St, Tulsa

Though burgers aren’t the main draw for McNellie’s Public House, on Wednesday nights they definitely are. That’s because Wednesday is burger night at McNellie’s, which means you can get a burger and fries for just $4!

The Challenge – Fat Guys

Downtown – 140 N Greenwood Ave, Tulsa

Fat Guy’s Burger Bar has the most fitting name, especially when you consider the Fat Guy’s Challenge. According to their website, the challenge is, “a 2lb patty, 1lb of bacon (15 slices), 2 hot dogs, 8 slices of American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and your choice of condiment. All of this takes place on a 1lb bun. Don’t forget to eat the full pound of French fries! All in 60 minutes.”

But hey, if you can actually finish it the whole thing, it’s free!

The Most Accessible – Ron’s

15 Tulsa Metro Location

The great thing about Ron’s Hamburgers is that wherever you find yourself in the Tulsa Metro, you probably aren’t too far away from a Ron’s. They offer a “wide range of burgers, along with Ron’s famous chili and other sandwiches.”

The New Kid in Town – Society Burger

Cherry St – 1419 E 15th St, Tulsa

Tucked between Hideaway Pizza and Kilkenny’s Irish Pub, no one could really fault you for overlooking one of Tulsa’s newest burger options. Society Burger on Cherry St bills itself as a locally sourced, handcrafted establishment with made to order burgers and craft beer. That’s their thing, “Always local: buns, beef, beer.”

Which, if we are being honest, is what this whole article is about: local restaurants that offer great burgers that rival anything that West Coast chain could bring to town.
