10 Reasons to Live in Broken Arrow

10 REASONS TO LIVE IN BROKEN ARROW

According to WalletHub, 38% of all U.S. single-family home purchases in 2017 were made by first-time home buyers. 38% may not sound like a large percent, but that amounts to 2,070,000 people! An exciting milestone, finding your perfect first home requires hours of research and miles of searching. One of the most important aspects is where your home is located. Narrow your search down to a location with a good reputation. One city to explore is Broken Arrow, due to its low crime rate, excellent schools, high-paying jobs and a wide variety of recreational and cultural amenities.

1. Best City for First-Time Home Buyers

For the 2nd time in 4 years, Broken Arrow has been named Best City for First-Time Home Buyers by WalletHub. Dawn Seing, a Broken Arrow resident for 27 years says “Broken Arrow is a great place to be; it is a melting pot of cultural diversity. There is a feeling of acceptance, a welcoming of all nationalities here.”  A McGraw agent for 10 years, Seing has worked with clients from all over the world and she says, “They all tell me they have looked around the country and have chosen BA because they like the feel here.”

2. Low Cost of Living

Craig Thurmond, Mayor of BA says, “It’s no surprise to me that Broken Arrow is the best city for first-time homeowners in the U.S. Your money goes farther here, meaning you can purchase a higher value home than you could in other parts of the country.” Steve Canada, a McGraw agent for 9 years agrees, “Over the past few years I’ve witnessed a strong trend of people migrating to Broken Arrow from coastal areas. What they would spend on the west coast buys so much more here.” He goes on to say, “I have an investor from CA that I am working with right now who bought a home here last year and loved the area so much that he is buying two more homes this month!”

3. Low Crime Rate

Broken Arrow was ranked 9th on the national list cities with the fewest violent crimes in the U.S. by Business Insider. Broken Arrow volunteer programs have become a model for other police, fire and government agencies throughout the U.S.

  • Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful volunteers work to remove unauthorized signs, address the removal of trash and downed tree limbs, and notify the city to remove graffiti or other known symbols used as markers for illegal activities.

  • 80% of Broken Arrow’s miles and parks are adopted by the Adopt Miles program, in which volunteers work in tandem with the city helping keep the community clean “A clean city equates to a crime-free city,” says Dawn Seing.

  • Broken Arrow’s Ride Along and Citizens Police Academy help keep communication between the police and the BA citizens open. Seing explains, “Our students have exposure from kindergarten through high school, learning that the police are their friends, striving to keep them safe and protected. This eliminates many of the issues experienced by bigger cities.” Steve Canada remembers an incident that happened to him not long ago: “My doorbell rang in the middle of the night. It was a police officer telling me that my garage door was up. I was very impressed with that level of concern.”
